Today we went on our first vineyard tour. Alcantara Vineyards is family-owned and sits in the foothills of the Verde Valley.
We weren’t sure how it would go, being that it is winter and the vines are dormant. However, it was super interesting to hear about how the vines are grown, and how resilient they have to be to produce the best grapes. The vines are actually watered heavily at the beginning of the season and the watering gradually diminishes as the season goes on, this stresses the vines producing richer flavors.
We were given a tour of the facility where they make bottle and store the wine, It was interesting to learn the different processes used to make white versus red wine.
After we were able to just walk the grounds and enjoy the scenerey.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without a wine tasting and snacks for the kids!
I can only imagine how beautiful this place must be in spring time!
