After our time at Gleanings, we planned a trip to Sequoia National Park. After all, we were only about an hour or so away.
We knew going in the weather would be questionable, that’s the only unfortunate thing about traveling north this early in the year, but the morning looked clear so we thought we’d go for it and see how far we could get.
We made it to the park and visitor center, the sun was shinning and we even had a little while to have lunch and work on Junior Ranger books before continuing up.
As we made our way further up the mountains, we noticed the weather changing, it was now chilly and overcast.
We stopped and snapped some photos at tunnel rock, and continued up.
Somewhere between tunes rock, and the next parking area (before the sequoias were visible), it started raining and that rain quickly turned into snow!
We made it to the next stopping point before we had to turn around, we were not prepared with tire chains and there was no way we could safely keep climbing, so we snapped some snow photos and made our way back down.
The kids did manage to still learn and earn their badges, but we’ll have to come back next year to make it all the way up!
On the way back we enjoyed the scenery, and stopped for some warm coffee and treats.
